Viva Paris!!

Bonjour everyone!!The moment we've been waiting for, its has been awhile since our overseas trip...the land of crepes(french equivalent of a lempeng between you and me), french bread, Eiffel de tower, Zizou, Lizarazu, and frogs as cuisine. We started the day really early as our train was at 6.30am. Woke up at about 4am and waited for the cab to take us to the St. Pancrass international as it was too early to catch the tube.

As all of us were quite tired and sleepy, the 2 hour and 15 minute train ride went by like a flash as we slept the whole way. The first thing that we did once we've reached Paris Gard du Nord was to look for the hop on hop off bus as the tickets were purchased upfront by my brother in Malaysia. Fyi, in case you wanna take the Eurostar to Paris, its cheaper to purchase it outside of England. Get someone from Malaysia to purchase it for you and have them send it over by mail. The price difference is almost 60 pounds.

Took us about 15 minutes asking for directions from the train staff there who spoke very little english or none at all, a very useful phrase for you to learn is "Parlais Anglais?", which means "Speak English?"..hehhe. The 1st destination was De Louvre museum. A magnificient sight of glass pyramid greeted us upon our arrival there. The 1st thing that we wanted to see was Da Vinci's masterpiece, Mona Lisa. Once we found it took a few snaps, well more like alot of snap of the magnificient painting. Although i was quite surprised that the painting was smaller than i thought.

Our second destination is the church of Notre Dame. The church was made famous by a story written by Victor Hugo called The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is set in 1482 in Paris, in and around the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris. The book tells the story of a poor Gypsy girl (La Esmeralda) and a misshapen bell-ringer (Quasimodo) who are both victimized by a corrupt priest (Claude Frollo). A magnificent structure nonetheless as every tourist was awed by the sight of the cathedral. Took some of pictures and then left for Champ de elysees.

The Champs-Élysées is known as La plus belle avenue du monde ("The most beautiful avenue in the world"). This is of course accompanied by the magnificent view of Arc de Triomphe. The avenue has seen its fair share of history, from France's darkest hour when Hitler marched across Champs-Élysées to celebrate the Fall of France in June 14, 1940 to France's football team march in their triumphant World Cup in 1998. After a few snapshots for the photoalbum, we headed towards the most famous landmark in Paris, Eiffel de Tower.

The Parisian landmark is the tallest structure in Paris and one of the most recognized structures in the world and is named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel. It is truly a remarkable structure considering that it was completed in 1889. Eiffel Tower became the epitome of the modern high rise structures that you see today from CN Tower in Toronto to KL Tower back in Malaysia.

By the time we've finished taking pictures of Eiffel Tower, it was already time to catch the last hop on bus back to Paris Gard du Nord. As we arrived back to the station, we found a halal shop run by an Algerian immigrant. There we ate pizza and bought a chicken panini as well just in case the pizza wasn't enough.
Our train departed from Paris at 9.15pm local time and we arrived back in London at 10.30pm BST.

Paris did live up to our expectation with its unique architecture. It combined the designs of the old world plus contemporary designs that you would normally see at IKEA. It was a rather tiring trip, but nonetheless a very fun and eventful trip. We would like to visit there again in the future, but probably we'll stay a couple of more nights to explore the city more as our trip that day was more like quickie walkthrough. Au revoir Paris, and we hope to see you again in the future.

paris mmg best!!! Sun 23-Dec-2007 06:52

Happy Halloween to everyone!!

Actually we didn't prepare anything for Halloween cause we didn't aspect any kids to knock on our door tonite.. But I guess we were wrong!! We heard a knock on our door.. Oh no!! Its d kids asking for candies.. At first we thought of ignoring them since we don't have candies to give.. But then I remembered that we still have a few brunch bars, and yes we gave them brunch bars.. Better than nothing rite??

Afraid that more kids will come to our house and asked for candies, so I volunteer to go out and buy some candies.. That's the spirit of being a good neighbour rite?? Haha..

Maybe next year i'll bring Qistinna for trick or treating yeah??
